Bella legatura coeva in mezza pelle rossa con titoli e fregi in oro al dorso. Esemplare in barbe. Leggerissimo alone alle prime pagine del volume e per il resto completo ed in buone condizioni. L'opera uscì nella celebre collana di monografie a se stanti dedicata ognuna ad un paese del mondo pubblicata con il titolo "L'universo o storia e descrizione di tutti i popoli". Prima edizione italiana di questa celebre pubblicazione dedicata alla storia, cultura e geografia dei paesi scandinavi Svezia e Norvegia. Philippe Le Bas (18 giugno 1794, Parigi - 19 maggio 1860, Parigi) è stato un ellenista francese, archeologo e traduttore. Figlio di Philippe Le Bas, amico di Robespierre, e Elisabeth Duplay, la figlia del padrone di casa di Robespierre, Maurice Duplay. Aveva solo 6 settimane di vita quando suo padre si suicidò alla caduta di Robespierre il 27 luglio 1794. Prima edizione.
