172229241
Oxford printed by John Baskett in 1722 this duodecimo edition combines the Book of Common Prayer with the Psalter and the Holy Bible including both Old and New Testaments under distinct title pages. The text reflects Anglican liturgical practice during the early eighteenth century when Baskett's role as University Printer positioned him as one of the most influential figures in English religious publishing. The compact size of 6.5 by 4.5 inches 16.5 by 11.5 cm reflects its intended use for both private devotion and parish function. The work is unpaginated as was customary for many prayer books of the period and its survival demonstrates the continued importance of Baskett's output in the development of English worship texts. Condition: Very Good with a firm leather binding secure text block and mild age toning across leaves. Format: Duodecimo 12mo single volume. Collation: Unpaginated. Illustrations: Title pages for both Testaments in addition to the main liturgy. Edition: 1722 Oxford printing. #29241 PHOTOS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
printed by John Baskett hardcover

Issued in 36 numbered parts the text is complete despite the gap in pagination between pages 46 and 57. The anomalous pagination of the preliminaries is explained in the binder's directions: "N.B. Place the Act for the Uniformity of Common-Prayer &c. and the Tables of Proper Lessons Feasts Fasts Kindred and to find Easter-Day viz. 5O and 5P i.e. 4 leaves of part 36 immediately after the Preface before the Calendar."
