Ohne dem dritten, 1779 erschienenen Band. Der Autor, englischer Politiker, Philosoph und Schriftsteller zur Zeit der Frühaufklärung war überzeugter Vertreter einer humanistisch orientierten Philosophie. Die Bände stammen aus der Bibliothek des Wiener Industriellen und Sammlers Franz Pollack Parnau.

Pierre-Joseph-François Luneau de Boisjermain fut un homme de lettres de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle. Il publia plusieurs méthodes de langue (latine, italienne et anglaise) essaya de s'attaquer au monopole des libraires, mais se fit beaucoup d'ennemis. Très bon état.

Nous n’avons pu identifier l’auteur de ce volume. Inconnu de Barbier. Décrit par Conlon 69.157. Considérations politiques, économiques et morales sur l’Angleterre de 1769. Il y est souvent question du politicien John Wilkes, alors emprisonné.Exemplaire provenant de la bibliothèque du Marquis d’Aligre (ex-libris). Né à Paris en 1726 dans une famille qui compta deux chanceliers, Aligre fut nommé Président du Parlement en 1768. Il fit plusieurs fois des remontrances au roi contre les impôts et contre les opérations ministérielles subversives. En 1788, en présence de Necker, il lut un mémoire au roi dans lequel il pronostiquait les malheurs qui, selon lui, découleraient de la convocation des États-Généraux. N’ayant pas été écouté par le roi, d’Aligre démissionna du Parlement. Le jour de la prise de la Bastille il fut arrêté mais put s’échapper grâce à un de ses anciens domestiques. Il émigra à Londres où l’attendait une fortune placée dans une banque anglaise. Il mourut en 1798 à Brunswick, laissant une fortune colossale à ses deux enfants.La pièce de titre au dos de la reliure manque, petit trou de ver au dos.

Large initial capital letter 'W'. 30.3 cm x 22 cm. <br/><br/>Charles best known today as the instigator/leader of the unsuccessful Jacobite uprising of 1745 in his effort to restore an absolute monarchy to the United Kingdom which culminated in defeat at the Battle of Culloden essentially signaling the end of the Jacobite cause. This broadside issued at the apex of the rebellion highlights the extent of Charles' belief in his claim to the throne for in it he declares the parliament at London to lack legitimacy; next he brands traitor & rebel all who attend said parliament; and finally he declares the "pretended union of these Kingdoms now at an End." A very rare survivor of this tumultous time of British history this broadside is known in only 6 copies per ESTC none on this side of the pond. unknown books
