Each poem has an engraved headpiece and tailpiece. Four full page engravings. One engraving of a nude has a childish outlining. Foxed. Booklabel of James W. Paul, Jr. on front paste down. Early inked manuscript ownership of Thos. Rodman on fly leaf. Includes an interesting Subscribers List. 245mm. Original full worn leather binding. Front board detached. Spine very worn with loss. The center of each board is sprinkle decorated in such a way as to show a memorial urn. Binding is worn but quite unusual. James W. Paul Jr. was a wealthy bankermarried to socialite Fanny Drexel (1855-1892). Their estate (Woodcrest) had a Horace Trumbauer designed 51-room, half-timbered mansion for banker. It took just two years to build, but the mix of medieval and Georgian styles was intended to make it look like it had evolved over generations. It is now on the grounds of Cabrini College. Book with dust jacket, in box. In green cloth, one corner of back cover very lightly bumped, price marked in pencil on title page with price code, otherwise book is As New, with no blemishes of any kind. Dust jacket has been price clipped at lower corner and is wrinkled a bit at edges but is clean with no tears and very little edgewear. Box is VG with one torn corner, light edgewear, another corner with about 1/4" of pictorial exterior peeling away. The subject of The Saturday Book #29 is Love.

Though there are no markings, this copy probably came from the library of the great actor Edwin Forrest. Though the manuscript presentation does not seem to be his: "To Lizzie from her husband Dec. 8th, 1855" on first fly leaf. 170mm. Original full leather binding, edges rubbed. Spine lettered in gold gilt with raised bands. Very slight loss at tail of spine. Hardbound. Very good. Edwin Forrest (1806-1872) was the most famous American actor of his era. RELIGION BX 12

A FAMILY PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE AUTHOR TO HIS COUSIN THE REV. GEORGE CHILTON WITH THE FORMER'S UNSIGNED HOLOGRAPH INSCRIPTION ON FRONT FREE ENDPAPER. The author's second genealogical work, following his study of Victoria and Albert (1841) and preceding his notable 'Shakepeareana Genealogica' in 1869. George Robert Comyn Chilton, b.1825, was educated at Christ Church Oxford where he gained his BA in 1848 and MA in 1852. A student of the Inner Temple, he was called to the Bar in 1850.
