Legitimised by the recto of frontispiece which states 'published by authority'. The note observes that this edition is printed on fine paper with a copper-plate frontispiece and title page. The statement is then signed by William Bent the proprietor and publisher of this work. In two parts this work is a guide to the week for Christians and includes prayers hymns as well an altar companion. In a full calf binding. Externally heavily rubbed to the boards and spine. Loss to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Loss to the tail of the rear joint. Crack to the tail of spine. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front free endpaper dated 1802. Internally firmly bound. Pages are age toned mostly to edges/ Pages 135-142 of part I are severely age toned with marks to pages. The occasional handling mark to pages and light spotting throughout. Hinges sound endpapers uncracked over gutters. The text is mildly creased at Luke 4 and the crease gradually wears its way out by the end of the book. Owner's inscription dated 1845 to front endpaper. At foot of last page: 'Corrall Printer Charing Cross'. Corrall's minute crisp 'diamond 4 1/2' type used here was later to be used in the famous Pickering Diamond editions. See Spielman no. 387 for the 1814 edition of this text 'An interesting volume because we see here Corrall's tiny and very legible type which later became famous through early Pickering's Diamond miniature editions.' ~Robust packaging.
