The survey for the Third Edition (the second revision of the New Series) was carried out between 1901 and 1912. Coverage extends to Reigate in the south. Scarce in the Stanford cover, immediately predating the first of the OS-branded covers published in 1914.

In 8°; VI, 352, (8) pp. Brossura editoriale con titolo impresso in nero al piatto anteriore entro cornice (piccolissima mancanza all'angolo superiore del piatto anteriore). Buon esemplare. Prima edizione di questo celebre scritto di Charles De Rémusat. Dopo studi di diritto nel 1820 pubblicò un celebre opuscolo sul processo con giuria. Giornalista attivo, mostrando in filosofia e letteratura l'influenza di Victor Cousin, si dice che la sua figura fosse l'originale del personaggio di Honoré de Balzac, Henri de Marsay. Firmò anche la protesta dei giornalisti contro le ordinanze del luglio 1830, e nell'ottobre seguente fu eletto deputato per la Haute Garonne. Nel 1836 divenne per un breve periodo di tempo sottosegretario di Stato per l'interno e poi un alleato fedele di Adolphe Thiers, tenendo nel 1840 il ministero degli Interni per un breve periodo. Nello stesso anno divenne anche accademico. Per il resto del regno di Luigi Filippo fu all'opposizione fino a quando Thiers, nel suo tentatò di prendere il potere nella primavera del 1848. Nel 1848 e nel 1849 fu rieletto, per la Haute Garonne nelle file dei conservatori. Dovette però lasciare la Francia dopo il colpo di stato, e non rientrò nella vita politica che durante il Secondo Impero se non dopo il 1869, quando fondò un giornale moderato di opposizione a Tolosa. Nel 1871 rifiutò la carica di ambasciatore a Vienna offertagli da Thiers, ma nel mese di agosto dello stesso anno venne poi nominato ministro degli Affari Esteri in successione a Jules Favre. Durante la sua astensione dalla vita politica Rémusat continuò a scrivere di storia e filosofica, soprattutto su temi inglesi come appunto: Saint Anselme de Cantorbery che apparve nel 1854; L'Angleterre au ... son temps, ecc, scritto nel 1858, John Wesley nel 1870, Lord Herbert de Cherbury nel 1874, Histoire de la philosophie en Angleterre depuis Bacone jusqu'à Locke nel 1875, oltre a altre opere e minori. Questo scritto è un brillante e divertente racconto dove le impressioni di viaggio sono una scusa per raccogliere impressioni della vita sociale e civile delle campagne inglesi e per analizzare i processi umani che si sviluppano fra individui di classi sociali diverse. L'autore descrive le esperienze vissute in particolare nei villaggi e delle città di Kingsford, Lynmore, Winchester e Londra ed è presente un capitolo dedicato al gioco del cricket. In 8°; XVI, 447, (5) pp. Bella legatura coeva in pieno vitello verde con ricchi fregi e titolo in oro ai tasselli del dorso. Dorso a 4 nervi. Ai piatti doppia cornice, una in oro e una impressa a secco. Leggero difetto al margine superiore delle cerniere e dorso con leggera alterazione del colore dovuta all'esposizione alla luce. Tagli riccamente dorati. Bella legatura inglese. Dedica manoscritta alla prima carta bianca a Monsignor Zacchia. L’opera è una dimostrazione teologica sul fatto che la religione cristiana non deriva da altre religioni ma che essa può essere nata solo per intervento divino. L’autore dello studio fu uno dei personaggi ecclesiastici più celebri del suo tempo. Fu anche arcivescovo di Canterbury. All’interno in buone condizioni di conservazione e in bella legatura inglese coeva.
