L’autore in quest’opera narra da vero e proprio giornalista, avendo assistito ai fatti qui narrati, la completa occupazione del territorio serbo da parte degli Austriaci e dei Tedeschi, con l’aiuto del popolo Bulgaro, nell’autunno del 1915. Fraccaroli con estremo pathos racconta di come, sotto tormente di neve, con l’equipaggiamento a brandelli, re Pietro e il suo esercito dovettero valicare le montagne in pieno inverno per giungere alle rive dell’Adriatico, ove le flotte dell’Intesa, e specialmente quella italiana, li raccolsero in vista di un loro successivo reimpiego sul fronte della Macedonia. Dorso incollato, ampia lacuna al foglio di guardia, fioriture alla copertina e occasionali alle carte, peraltro esemplare ben conservato con testo pienamente fruibile.
