Unbound as published. 4 p. <p><br /> Extremely scarce report of the Board of the “Richard Wagner-Theaters†Bayreuth Festspielhaus with Wagner’s invitation to the upcoming rehearsals.<br /> <p><p><br /> In this brochure the Board announces the dates of the three weeks of the four-evening rehearsals of Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelung†which could be attended only by the patrons; shows a sample of the Patron-card; quotes Wagner’s invitation for the rehearsals; and announces the budget statement of the year of 1875.<br /> <p><p><br /> The Richard Wagner-Theater or the Bayreuth Festspielhaus Wagner’s opera house’s was built between 1872 and 1876. The funding of the construction was difficult thus Wagner gave concerts sold shares and set up Wagner Societies all over the world to promote his music and ideas and the Verwaltungs-Rathes des Richard Wagner-Theaters was in charge to manage all these actions. The open rehearsals announced in this Report were also part of the effort to finalize the building and fund its later operation. The Festspielhaus eventually opened in the summer of 1876 with the public premier of the four-opera cycle the Ring.<br /> <p><p><br /> Extremely scarce document. This work was reprinted from the scarce 1839 account of Zenas Leonard's firsthand description of the Joseph Reddeford Walker expedition to California. Zenas Leonard 1809-1857 was an American frontiersman explorer and fur trapper. Leonard joined a fur-trading expedition in 1831 that took him across the Rocky Mountains where he spent several years trapping trading and living among Native American tribes. His detailed journal offers one of the earliest firsthand accounts of life in the American West describing encounters with tribes such as the Crow Blackfeet and Nez Perce as well as the hardships of overland travel survival and hunting.
