Pour la plupart, ces portraits sont ceux de femmes, mais on trouve également des enfants et jeunes gens. Les formats sont des médaillons circulaires ou ovales, parfois des rectangles à angles arrondis, se prêtant facilement à l'encadrement. Tini Rupprecht (1867-1956) : peintre, photographe et dessinatrice allemande, reconnue pour ses portraits de personnes des familles royales ou puissantes d'Europe, du Luxembourg à la Roumanie.
