Frederick Whitehead was an English landscape artist and illustrator. His illustrations are accompanied with contextual historical information on the locations and people by Clive Holland. Collated complete with seventy-five plates and a folding map to the rear. Locations illustrated to his work includes Warwick Castle Chesterton Mill Radway Lapworth Coughton Court Southam Beauchamp Chapel Astley Castle Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Barton. In a half morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally very smart with light shelfwear to the joints. Bookplate to the front pastedown for Mercers School. Internally firmly bound. Despite condition factors the decorated cloth is bright and fresh; the book displays well. In the publisher's 20 shilling series. The presence of an index indicates this is a 1912 reprint per INMAN 87.<p>Renowned for capturing locales in print and picture prior to the onset of full-tilt industrialization and easy automobile access the A & C Black travelogues are unique in their distillation of former times and places: armchair travel defined. .
