1806006226London: J.N. Boydell and Company & G. And W. Nicol 1806. John Ireland 1742-1808 an enthusiast of the artist edited John Trusler's "Hogarth Moralised" 1768 to produce these works. First published in two volumes in 1793; a third supplemental volume came out in 1798. These are Very Good copies of the Third Edition stated. Full leather binding decorated with decorative both blind and gilt stampings. The spines are ruled and decorated in gilt with titling in gilt within red and black compartments. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Volume One has a frontis portrait of Ireland and the half-title has Hogarth and his dog. the text is clean; cxxii 237 pages. There are forty plates including Garrick as Richard III. Volume Two is 379 pages with forty-three plates.Volume Three is titled "A Supplement to Hogarth Illustrated; Compiled from His Original Manuscripts in the Possession of John Ireland." and "Published for the Author." Contains xxiv 370 pages including a Catalogue and an Index to the Catalogue. All three volumes have covers that are present but disbound.
