An attractive but rather strangely contorted map of the mainland and islands, with the Orkneys delineated in an inset panel. Very detailed but designed on a projection constricting the north-south axis. Gerard and Leonard Valk are best known as republishers of earlier mapmakers' plates. However, here their own work shows precision in engraving with a wealth of placenames.Copperplate, full original colouring, good condition.
