Le statue, poste nella chiesa occupata dal cenotafio, formano una nobilissima guardia d’onore all’imperatore Massimiliano I (1459-1519) e una bellissima veduta di insieme è posta come antiporta del volumetto. Testo in francese e tedesco. Fra i personaggi rappresentati figurano: Clovis (Louis) I , roi de France - Philippe I, roi d’Espagne - Rodolphe I, roi des Allemands - Théodoric, roi des Ostrogothe - Sigismond, archiduc d’Autriche - Blanche Marie, duchesse de Milan - Marguerite d’Autriche - Cymburgis, épouse du duc Erneste d’Autriche - Charles le téméraire - Marie, duchesse de Bourgogne - Godefroi, duc de Bouillon - Leopold IV le saint, margrave d’autriche. Inscribed by Horodezky to Rabbi H. P. Chajes, the German theologian and Zionist leader who was chair of the World Zionist Congress from 1912 to 1925. Horodezky was born in Malin in Kiev District to a distinguished line Hasidic leaders. From his father, Rabbi Yosef Moshe ben Rabbi Baruch, he was a descendant of Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Chernobyl , through his mother, via Rabbi Gedaliah Tversky, he was a descendant of the Ba'al Shem Tov. In 1907 he left Russia to study philosophy and history at the University of Berlin . That year he was elected as a delegate of Berdichev to the 8th Zionist Congress 8thIn 1939 he emigrated to Israel and settled in Tel Aviv . There he published articles which appeared in most of the worlds Hebrew language newspapers as well as in other sectors of the Jewish press. In addition, published a number of books on Hasidism and Kabbalah. He was awarded the Bialik Prize (Wikipedia, 2016) . From 1918 to his death, Chajes served as the chief rabbi of the Jewish community of Vienna. In addition, he was also the Chairman of the Zionist General Council from 1921 to 1925....The main Jewish school in Vienna is named after him. SUBJECT(S) : Chassidismus. Posnanski was an Austrian rabbi; born at Lubraniec, near Warsaw in 1854; educated at the gymnasium, the university, and the rabbinical seminary at Breslau, where he worked under Heinrich Graetz and Manuel Joël, and at the Sorbonne in Paris, where he was reader to the Orientalist Joseph Derenbourg. While a student at Breslau he gave religious instruction in the secondary schools of that city, and officiated as rabbi at Reichenberg, Bohemia, from 1888 to 1891, when he was called to Pilsen. Posnanski (was) a member of the board of directors of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaft des Judenthums at Berlin. (Encyclopedia Judaica) OCLC lists 23 copies worldwide. Title translates to Ben Avuyah: A Poem about the Merits of Life. Meir Letteris (1800-1871) was an Austrian Jewish scholar and the foremost poet of the Galician Haskala. He published a working translation of Goethes Faust using the character of Elisha ben Abuyah instead. Ben Abuyah was a controversial rabbi and religious authority from the period immediately following the destruction of the Second Temple. His views were considered heretical by the other Tannaim, leading to Talmud references to him falling under the name "The Other One. (Wikipedia, 2018) .
