The Intendente de Hacienda of the Colombian state of Cauca José Francisco Zamara resigns to take up arms against the revolt of Tomas Cipriano de Mosquera in 1860. His opinion of the general and former president is well summed up by his statement that "El Jeneral Tomas Cipriano de Mosquera a quien por desgracia confiasteis vuestros destinos rompiendo sus titulos de lejitimidad se ha convertidos en jefe de bandidos i en tirano de los pueblos." Light foxing and toning. "Edicion Oficial." After Gran Colombia was dissolved in 1830 the countries of modern-day Colombia Venezuela and Ecuador took shape. Colombia then known as New Granada suffered two years of civil war ending in 1863 with the founding of the United States of Colombia. It was reestablished as the Republica de Colombia in 1886. This is the official edition of the constitution acknowledging the establishment of that entity. The front cover is stamped in gilt with the name of Fernando Cortes the title page also bearing his ownership stamp. unknown

The author of this scarce pamphlet Francisco Obregon was the governor of the Colombian province of Antioquia. Here he attempts to justify and to explain the "intervencion i procedimientos de los funcionarios del order ejecutivo en las ultimas elecciones pasa a verificarlo en los terminos mas claros i precisos que le sea posible." Scarce mid-19th-century report on the Republic of Ecuador from a Colombian perspective. Ecuador during this period was under the liberal anticlerical regime of General José María Urbina and was dogged by strife between the ruling party and not only conservative but also monarchical groups as well as by in-fighting amongst liberal factions. The present work by nineteen-year-old Secretary of War !!! Felipe Perez who was appointed in the same year as publication by President José María Obando attempts to analyze the situation in neighboring Ecuador so that its perceived ills might be avoided in Colombia. Light biopredation at upper left corner and pin-sized wormhole at right margin neither affecting text. Occasional faint foxing and minor soiling internally. A rare pamphlet that prints a plea for clemency by Pedro Neira Acevedo a Colombian politician who was imprisoned for his role in the Golpe de Melo in 1854. In addition to his request for freedom the pamphlet comprises a rumination on the current form of the government in Colombia and pleas for a return to non-military non-dictatorial government. According to a footnote on the final page Neira was freed and then reimprisoned between the writing and publication of this text. OCLC locates only one copy at the National Library of Chile. This broadside announces the exile of the Franciscans from Cali and the Republic of Colombia for their failure to comply with new laws concerning taxes on religious orders. Interestingly this is signed by the Guardian of the Franciscans himself Rafael Ortiz who urges the citizens of Cali to pray for the order and to fend for themselves under a vain perfidious and deceitful government. Even tanning faint foxing. The anonymous writer of this ephemeral piece accuses Dr. Manuel Bueno of holding too much power and too many titles in Popayan and wielding both capriciously. Here he is specifically charged with expelling a student Francisco Ibarra from the "colejio" of which Bueno was the rector for a political argument with the student's father. Not in OCLC. Imp. The 1830 separation of Venezuela from Nueva Granada and the resultant breakup of Gran Colombia created numerous diplomatic headaches such as boundary settlements treaty negotiations and debt/credit resolutions that had once been shared. In this scarce pamphlet members of the Colombian Congress raise constitutional objections to executive actions of the president's office regarding the division of international credit between Venezuela and Colombia. Scarce broadside from the provincial legislature of Popayan to the people of southwestern Colombia transmitting its hope that that the new constitution will end "tantos años de contiendas sangrientas que solo han producido la miseria i el discontento." It concludes by stating that "De oriente á occidente i de norte á sur no se oiga mas que una voz; y que los ecos respondan á los ecos en nuestros profundos valles i sobre las vumbres de nuestros volcanes con tanta armonía como la belleza de nuestro horizonte i con tan inponente voz como el sonoro i retumbante trueno que nos recuerda al Dios que aquí no colocó: PAZ! A small archive from Charles Skipper & East Limited the London bank note printers including 2 hand written letters on company headed paper which divulge negotiations regarding the potential supply of new bank notes to the Banco da Republica dos Estados Unidos du Brazil and Banco Nacional de la Republica de Colombia. The letters are dated March and April 1891 and penned by an agent working on behalf of Charles Skipper & East sent from an address on Rue de Soutay Paris. Details of potential orders discussed include denominations required quantities note sizes print type costings colour watermarks vignettes precise shipping costs and security arrangements 'they want the new notes to be of a different appearance from those now in use and to combine all possible conditions of security'. Letter 1: Dated 23rd March 1891 discusses the agent's commission the receipt of sketches for the 'un mil' note for Banco da Republica dos Estados Unidos du Brazil and the receipt of 9 bank notes used in Colombia by Banco Nacional de la Republica de Colombia sent from M Luis Carlos Rico of Bogota. 4 sides in contemporary hand writing. Very detailed. Signed 'Yours faithfully E Gany'. In very good condition. Letter 2: Dated 24th April 1891 discusses sketches of the 100 peso note for Colombia quotations for the 5760000 notes in six kinds to be printed and their American competitors. 2 sides in contemporary hand writing. Additionally included in the archive are: Debentures numbered 390 - 400 dated 1st December 1931 signed by the Directors and secretary of Charles Skipper & East Ltd. A letter dated April 1932 from the solicitors representing Charles Skipper & East to Miss ABS Macfie giving notice to her tenancy of 50 Great Tower St EC3. A legal letter headed Lincoln's Inn 26th May 1892 regarding deeds for a property on Tower Hill in Great Tower St and access to Priest's Alley naming Mr Edward Wormald.
