This copy was formerly in the library of 622257 Sgt. P. J. Doswell, Nursing Orderly RAF, and carries on the front free endpaper his service record in MS: India 1943, Ceylon and Burma 1944, Ceylon and Singapore (including relief of Changi) 1945. Arguably the finest of all RCAF squadron histories, considerably detailed and profusely illustrated. Includes ROH, and full personnel listings for BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Maritime Provinces and those from Outside Canada. EXTREMELY SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.

With 8pp publisher's catalogue (dated July 1857) bound in at rear. This important account was first published in two volumes in 1855. Both editions are scarce but this is the scarcer. A lovely copy (albeit minimally restored) of an early issue in publisher's original binding. VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.

È veramente un piacere perdersi nella visione di quest'opera sulle bellezze dell'America del Nord, grande e nuova terra dagl'immensi spazi, dove sorgono le moderne metropoli. Non si gira sovente pagina senza incontrare una delle finissime incisioni che incantano con la visione delle cascate del Niagara, dei fiumi del Missouri, del Grand Canyon o delle cime innevate delle Sierras. Non mancano vedute della Nuova York dove svettano i palazzi tra le vie movimentate o sostano le imbarcazioni al porto mentre altre veleggiano in mare, splendidi scorci di Washington e di altre incantevoli città. Ma le cose più belle le regala la natura incontaminata, le montagne innevate, i pascoli immensi. Il percorso si snoda attraverso le regioni formando quell'itinerario che diverrà il viaggio americano per antonomasia, ovvero quel coast to coast pieno di affascinanti libertà. Primo ed ultimo quinterno parzialmente slegati, lievi mende d'uso, in più che buono stato. Interessante e prezioso.
