Ingstad 1899-2001 was a noted adventurer and archaeologist who had sold his successful law practice in Levanger and become a fur trapper in Canada’s Northwest Territories by 1926 where for the next three years he traveled with the local Indigenous Ethen-eldeli First Nations peoples and wrote his bestelling Land of Feast ad Famine which was published in 1933 and provided much of the basis for his only novel.
