Invoking Napoleon Lincoln the founding Fathers of the United States and other historical figures and events the writer pleads for the Allies' just motivations for waging war to a war-weary Canadian public. The writer further offers justification for the continuation of the system of conscription a denunciation of those men who would invoke their "disabilities of conscience"; writing bitterly of those men "wiling to fabricate "conscientious scruples" in order to avoid service noting the "bitterness with which a man who is required to leave wife children and livelihood and does so with a quiet dignity of which I have been a respectful witness in hundreds of cases regards a conscientious objector remaining at home and enjoying the fruits of other men's sacrifices.". A remarkably well-preserved piece of First World War ephemera from a decidedly Canadian perspective. [Government of Canada] | The Military Service Council unknown
