Very good. - Over 55 words penned on 10-1/2 inch high by 7-1/4 inch wide "State of Maine / Office of the Governor" stationery with the state's crest embossed in gilt & blue at top left. In his brief letter Governor Curtis thanks Brenda Kuhn the daughter of the artist Walt Kuhn for her recommending Joe Hoyt Sr. for appointment as York County Commissioner "Please be assured he will receive every consideration for this position". He concludes with Christmas & New Year's wishes. Signed "Ken Curtis". Folded for mailing the top left corner is creased with a nearly invisible tear below the top fold at left. There are rust stains from a paper clip framing the embossed crest at top left. Very good together with a retained copy of Brenda Kuhn's letter.</p><p>The American attorney politician and diplomat Kenneth Merwin Curtis born 1931 served as the 68th Governor of Maine from 1967 to 1975. He served as Jimmy Carter's U.S. Ambassador to Canada from 1979 to 1981.</p> Augusta, Maine, December 13, 1973.
