"Many things that I wrote in the field last summer read queerly today but that may be accounted for by the fact that here on Long Island I am neither tired hungry nor wet. These three things strangely influence the amateur explorer."<br /> <br /> The author thanks Charles Sheldon of Washington D.C. in the Apologia for giving him the idea to search for sheep at Frances Lake.
