PC60Cambridge Massachusetts: Printed by the Riverside Press 29 pages. On November 23 1907 the first Confederate memorial was unveiled in Vicksburg National Military Park. It honored the Botetourt Artillery the only Virginia unit that participated in the battle of Vicksburg. The guest speaker was the Virginia novelist Mary Johnston whose father was the second captain of the Botetourt Artillery and was wounded during the battle. This book reprints her address which had been first published in Southern Historical Society Papers in 1907. The book offered here appears to be a reprint uncertain date and publisher of an edition published by Johnston's publisher probably in 1907. The book is in almost as-new condition. Reprint.
