Undated manuscript document in which Thomas Lewis 1720-1800 Justice of the Peace for Burke County Georgia certifies that Ezekiel Airidge "has take the Oath of allegiance to the State and is thereby intitled to all the Benefits & Priviliges of a free Citizen of the same." Lewis was one of the founders of Waynesboro Georgia and commanded a battalion of the Burke County Militia established in 1774. He was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1796. The 1790 census lists an Ezekiel Akridge or Akeridge in Burke County. He appears to have been born around 1760 in Georgia and to have served in the Revolutionary War while living in Clarke County. The document measures 3.75" x 7.75" and has old folding creases; else about fine. unknown
