"Judge Hebbard was a Superior Court Judge for the San Francisco area during the early 1900's -- it seems that in 1907 he had some run-ins with other members of the bar due to some excessive imbibing and a period of despondency which he showed a bit too widely when he tried to kill himself during an annual Bar Association dinner.
