This delightfully printed promotional catalogue for the millinery department at Hugh O’Neill’s Dry Goods Store whose impressive building at Sixth Ave. & 21st St. was an impressive domed building now serving as condominiums. Noted for their inventive marketing catalogs and souvenir chromolithograph cards this one illustrates the many Victorian trimmed hats which could be purchased "at the lowest possible price" including: Bo Peep Misses Capulet Easter Hedrick Ormonde & Bon Ton bonnets as well as Virot Gypsy Queen and Reckless hats. Founded in 1870 the Irish-American O'Neill d. 1902 opened his distinctive store designed by Mortimer Merritt in 1887 and by 1892 employed 2500 people and added a fifth floor to his store. After his death the O'Neill store later merged with Adams Dry Goods and closed down in 1907.
