Reeder's "Around the Golden Deep: A Romance of the Sierras" by Samuel Carson & Co. an early San Francisco publishing house. As advertised in the circular by the publisher the scenes of Reeder's book "open up a field entirely new in the world of fiction - the heart of the Sierras at the present time" ca. late 19th century.
