The railway was abandoned in 1899, and the locomotives and rails taken to Extension. Today, timber grows on the old grades over which millions of tons of Wellington coal had been hauled." - from pages 3 and 5. Includes copies of 5 black and white photographs which show the first train to Wellington in 1880, the locomotive Columbia, the last coal to be hoisted in the Nanaimo-Wellington district in November 1953, and more.
