TWO: 23 December 1883. 4pp. 12mo. He begins by offering to aid Grant's researchehs by search the parish registers. He states that he is 'very fond of birds & natural history generally' and was interested in the 'account of your dear father & the moor hen'. He describes the birds he sees when he looks out of the window and that when he is gardening 'they follow me about like little dogs - & all very pleased to be spoken to'.
