L'opera e' divisa per stabilimento, cioe': Stabilimento meccanico Sampierdarena (fonderie ecc.); Cantiere di Sestri ( cantieri navali); Officina allestimento navi. Genova (allestimento finale delle navi); Stabilimento di Cornigliano (fonderie); Stabilimento elettrotecnico di Cornigliano (costruzione motori elettrici per uso di bordo); Stabilimento metallurgico Delta (fonderia in bronzo, rame e leghe). Molte le illustrazioni dei mezzi realizzati quali navi, treni, particolari meccanici e materiale bellico. L'Ansaldo era nata nel 1852 per diretto interessamento di Cavour e volta alla produzione di locomotive. Dal 1904, con l'acquisto da parte di F. M. Perrone, l'Ansaldo acquisira' altri stabilimenti occupandosi di cantieristica e produzioni belliche. Di grande interesse il ricco apparato iconografico.

La Bayonnoise, corvette francese di 24 cannoni, mentre prende all'arrembaggio l'Ambuscade, fregata inglese di 26 cannoni; il 24 Febbraio, anno settimo. Curiosamente il foglio reca impressa una litografia di golfo marino con abitazioni e imbarcazione con pescatori al verso. Foglio rifilato ai margini, quindi in stretti margini e con una leggera irregolarità del margine inferiore, ma ben impresso, un piccolo difetto nella parte inferiore sinistra dell'inciso.

A picture of this book is available upon request Freeman 3658. The author describes the history of the aquarium in detail, fresh-water and marine aquariums, their construction and use, the inhabitants of the aquariums including fish, reptiles, plants, insects, zoophytes, etc, the aquarium as a nursery for the microscope. Very well-illustrated. The illustrated ads at the rear are for the author's other books. At the time, this was the ultimate aquaria book, at the peak of the aquarium hobby in the nineteenth century.

Effectively the official history of the German submarine campaign in the Great War.By early 1915 the U-boats' hesitant beginnings had become a commitment to a total blockade of the UK. This indispensable work includes a complete history of the campaign, describing in detail the nature and extent of the threat. For some time the Admiralty failed to appreciate fully the magnitude of the menace and it was not until 1917 that the introduction of a convoy system began to redress the balance. This account is one of very few to cover both overall strategy and individual boat tactics, and the photographs are both valuable and not easily available elsewhere. Appendices include a review the success of the convoy system, a history of German submarine design between 1904 and 1914, a record of German submarine construction and losses, German 'aces', merchant ship losses, and (almost uniquely) details of Austro-Hungarian and Turkish submarines.There are several modern re-issues, but none to anything like these production standards.
