Al centro dell'illustrazione troviamo il Bucintoro, la galea di stato dei Dogi di Venezia, sulla quale si imbarcavano ogni anno nel giorno dell'Ascensione per celebrare il rito veneziano dello sposalizio con il mare. Tutto intorno sono rappresentate una serie di imbarcazioni più piccole. In alto si trovano titolo e legenda, oltre a piccoli scorci dedicati ad alcuni monumenti della città.
