Bound in full tan calf with gilt-titled leather labels on the spine. The covers are rubbed and soiled and the spine is scuffed. 327 and 259 pages respectively. A previous owner's name with the date of acquisition is penned on the front endpaper. The pastedowns endpapers and preliminary pages are heavily foxed. There is some lighter occasional foxing throughout. There is a small piece out front the top corner of one page not affecting the text. A tear to pages v & vi of the second book has been repaired with clear archival document tape. There are occasional marginal annotations in pencil. Good. <p>First American edition.<p>John Yate Lee's "A Treatise on the Evidence of Abstracts of Title to Real Property" precedes "George Hewit Oliphant's "The Law Concerning Horses Racing Wagers and Gaming".<p>Chapter 3 of the second book i.e. "The Law Concerning Horses Racing Wagers and Gaming" includes material of veterinary interest under the heading "What Diseases orf Bad Habits Constitute Unsoundness or Vice". This chapter includes information of "Backing and Gibbing" "Blindness" including cataracts "Broken knees" "Capped Hocks" "Dropsy of the Heart" "Hereditary Diseases" etc. Chapter 8 outlines the law as it pertains to "Innkeepers Farriers Trainers and Stallion-Masters".
