Group Captain John "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham was arguably the greatest RAF night-fighter pilot of WWII. Serving principally with 604 and 85 Squadrons, he is credited with 20 kills, of which 19 were claimed at night. After the war he was appointed chief test pilot for De Havilland, proving both Comet and Trident airliners.
