In extremely poor condition: grubby creased and stained with several closed tears and damage involving loss particularly to the first leaf the heading of which has been cut away so that the name of the firm can only be deduced from the illustrations. There are 27 steel-engravings of various vehicles of which 5 on the first leaf have been seriously damaged. Details including prices are given for each vehicle. A miscellany of excerpted tales poetry essays and anecdotes that are aimed at the working classes. It contains essays on France America the steam engine air pollution theater religion diseases principles of phrenology elections and advertisements. It also includes a description and illustration of Ogle and Summer's Steam Carriage on pg. 89. In around 1830 or 1831 Summers and Ogle based at the Iron Foundry In 1831 the firm's Nathaniel Ogle gave evidence on the steam carriage to the "Select Committee of the House of Commons on Steam Carriages". Millbrook Southampton made two three wheeled steam carriages. In 1832 one of their steam carriages travelled via Oxford to Birmingham and Liverpool.
