In his capacity as Quarter Master General Brownrigg informs Brock that 'the Establishment of Entrenching Tool Carts and Tools attached to the several Regiments in Great Britain shall cease on the 24th of June next and that the Horses Harness and Carts used for carrying the Tools shall be forthwith Sold by Publick Auction.' Gives instructions for delivering over the 'Horses Carts and Harness'. An officer of the Royal Waggon Train will superintend and Brock must report his progress. Signed 'Robt Brownrigg Qr Mr. Genl.' The recipient Philip Dosse was proprietor of Hansom Books publisher of a stable of seven arts magazines including Books and Bookmen and Plays and Players. See ‘Death of a Bookman’ by the novelist Sally Emerson editor of ‘Books and Bookmen’ at the time of Dosse’s suicide in Standpoint magazine October 2018. The present item is 1p 4to. In good condition lightly aged and creased. Folded for postage. Signed 'J. Vijaya T'. In writing a review for Dosse he has ‘exceeded the 600 words’ and rather than ‘cut it down’ he ‘thought it better that you and the Editor see all that I had to say and decide what to retain and what to delete. / I only hope that Krishna Menon’s nervous breakdown and my clap are retained.’ With regard to the ‘plagiarism’ of Mulk Raj Anand he is enclosing cuttings from Evergreen Review not present. In future he will ‘keep to the strict limit but having known Amita Malik Mulk Raj A and others I could not restrain myself. The exhibition brings together works that are unlike what the artist has created thus far: 22 portraits taken by Ceylan in Türkiye and geographies around the world as diverse as India Georgia China Morocco and Russia. Among the qualities that the portraits share are the relationships the characters establish with the built environment and natural landscapes carefully constructed photographic atmospheres the use of dramatic light the dialogue between different colors understated emotions and calm facial expressions. Ceylans portraits point to the depth of human experiences that bind us together while simultaneously bringing to mind that our lives cannot be separated from geography. The reference to another place in the exhibition title and series not only evokes the many countries to which Ceylan has traveled it also refers to the characters of his cinema who desire to be somewhere other than where they are. Revealing the daily struggles loneliness boredom and melancholy of people around the world through his subjects who gaze directly at the photographer and therefore also at us Ceylan focuses on the common emotions across geographies rather than the differences. The unique formal language in all of Ceylans photographs activate our imagination and make us feel connected to people and geographies that we have never been to or experienced. She was raised harshly it is said by her cavalry captain father.
