The album opens with a photograph of the airplane: B.O.A.C. jet from San Francisco to Tokyo; many pictures of shrines; Buddha of Kamakura; Fuji - Hakone - Izu National Park; Mt. Fuji; Kyoto; fields of tea; Taipei; Tiger Balm Garden; Victoria Peak; Hong Kong Harbor; and Aberdeen. Japan: 6 commercial 27 Polaroid mostly Kyoto; Taipei: 5 b&w 8 Polaroid; Hong Kong: 18 Polaroid 6 postcards. Later issues have "With the Compliments of the Hong Kong Government Information Services" printed at the foot of the front cover. As Grantham in office 1947-57 writes "the booklet's cover symbolises the Hong Kong story. The harbour is the basic origin of the Colony on which its prosperity was founded; the fine modern buildings in the foreground are evidence of that prosperity while the figure of the cheerful Chinese labourer typifies the hundreds of thousands who have been attracted to Hong Kong by the opportunities it affords and the promise that in reward for labour there will always be something for the rice bowl" p. 3. 1932185152Hong Kong: K. A. J. Chotirmall & Co. c.1932. A brochure issued by a major Sindhi trading concern. Founded in Jakarta in 1875 the firm entered the Hong Kong market in 1888 as part of a programme of expansion across Asia. It built a reputation on trading textiles but branched out into furniture ivory and porcelain wares and fans. This copy is accompanied by a nine-page pamphlet issued by the company around the same time and listing the types of goods it exports. The contents match the last few leaves of the brochure. Quarto. Many illustrations internally. Original orange wrappers front cover lettered in black. Wrappers sunned and marked wear and superficial splits at spine some creasing internally: a very good copy of a fragile item. unknown

An informative group of images showing Trench taking the salute march-pasts by dog and riot units female officers on parade and a ride-past by a motorcycle division. Other photographs capture Trench pinning decorations on individual officers the arrival of senior personnel and music and marching. Completing the collection is a photograph of Peter Dixon Lennett 1938-1997 a member of the force from 1964 to 1991 receiving the baton of honour from Lieutenant-General Sir Denis O'Connor Commander of British Forces in Hong Kong during his passing out ceremony. Lennett graduated as Best Inspector of the Intake and was commended on multiple occasions during his distinguished career. His accompanying business card identifies him as a force training officer at the training school in Wong Chuk Hang Aberdeen. Together 35 gelatin silver professional photographs 125 x 170 mm and larger gelatin silver photograph 210 x 160 mm latter with South China Morning Post wet-stamp and near-contemporary ink manuscript caption on verso. Photographs bowed but mostly bright and unfaded a little silver mirroring: a very good collection. unknown

First edition recording the feverish protests whipped up by left-wing activists in Hong Kong in 1967. Despite the bluster from Beijing privately Mao and other communist leaders were extremely keen to see the territory an important trading partner remain in British hands. Following the explosive beginning of the Cultural Revolution in China mainland Chinese operatives in Hong Kong infiltrated labour disputes and demonstrations over conditions to fan the flames of anti-British sentiment.
