Jewelleries such as pectorals (breastplate), medallions, beads, amulets, neck rings, ornamental pins, fibulae, armlets, bracelets, rings and furthermore, the most comprehensive Urartian belt collection of Turkey with approximately 70 belts will reveal the mysterious thoughts, religious beliefs and traditions of the Urartian society. Among the most important factors in the development of the Urartian art of jewellery is the presence of rich mineral deposits of Eastern Anatolia and the profitable use of these deposits by the Urartian jewellery masters. Gold, silver, lead, iron and particularly copper deposits in the region were effectively mined for the first time by the Urartians. With the mission and vision it has upheld since its inauguration, Rezan Has Museum has arduously strived to preserve the historic assets of our land, which has been home to countless civilizations, and to ensure that they are transmitted to future generations. Our most important mission is to safeguard the Museum's jewellery collection of the Urartian civilization, which reigned over Anatolia for 250 years and to entrust future generations with a collection preserved at least its present condition. Each new study on these treasures to be handed down from one generation to the next will shed light not only upon our past but upon our future as well.".
New English Paperback. Folio. (33 x 24 cm). In English and Turkish. 480 p., ills. The Assyrians: Kingdom of the god Assur from Tigris To Taurus.= Assurlular: Dicle'den Toroslar'a tanri Assur'un kralligi. The city of Assur, and the kingdom with its name derived from this city, were established by the early 2nd millennium BC along the bank of the Tigris River in northern Iraq, and continued their existence almost uninterrupted for about 1400 years until the end of the 7th century BC. Assyrian king lists provide a chronology of kings with their capital cities. Albeit with some uncertainties, the sequence begins with the names of kings who reigned at the city of Assur (Qal'at Sherqat) for more than 1000 years and continues in chronological order with kings who resided in the capital cities of the Neo-Assyrian Period, namely Kalhu (Nimrud), Dur-Sarruken (Khorsabad) and Nineveh (Koyunjuk). In this regard, among all states known in ancient Near Eastern history, the Assyrian Kingdom is one of those which maintained its political regime and its institutions of government for the longest time. The political model of governance that had begun to take shape in Mesopotamia during the 4th millennium BC in the lands of Sumer and Akkad matured under Assyrian rule throughout a long historical process of political development. The model of royal sovereignty and its associated institutions of governance and palace architecture, developed by the Neo-Assyrian Kingdom which built upon the experiences and traditions of deep-rooted Mesopotamian civilizations, were adopted and imitated in multiple ways by all kingdoms and empires which followed Assyria in the Near East.

New English Paperback. 4to. (28 x 23 cm). In English. 192 p., ills. Archival memories: Marcell Restle's research in Anatolia and beyond. Authors: Su Sultan Akülker, Klaus Belke, Birgitt Borkopp-Restle, Friedrich Hild, Cedric Huss, Johannes Koder, Caroline Mang, Philipp Pichler, Nina Rannharter, Marcell Restle, Lioba Theis, B. Tolga Uyar, Peter Waldhausl... Marcell Restle was born in 1932 in a small town named Bad Waldsee in southern Germany and studied art history, Byzantine studies, and the history of Christianity at the universities of Tu?bingen and Munich. The classes Restle took from German and Turkish professors at Istanbul University, where he studied for a year, opened up new horizons for him. The studies he made of Islamic, Seljuk, and, especially, Ottoman art and architecture, as well as of Byzantine art; the classes he taught at the universities of Vienna and Munich on these topics; and the countless study trips he made around the Eastern Mediterranean, including to Istanbul and Anatolia, made him an expert in the field of architecture, especially in the systematic documentation of buildings. "Archival Memories" on the one hand informs viewers about how a researcher organized his working day, how he systematically allotted his time, and what methods he used in the pre-digital age. On the other hand, it aims to present from retrospective perspectives the states of numerous cultural assets, most of which remain today only as memories within urban structures.
