39051201Nanning 1971 Ren Min Chu Ban She. Red & yellow pictorial wrappers very good 47p. Chinese text stapled 1.8 x 17.9 cm. contents clear solid example. RARE FIRST EDITION . . .WITH A LOVELY QUOTE ON THE FRONTISPIECE FROM CHAIRMAN MAO: . . . "The peoples of the whole world unite to defeat U.S. . . Imperialism and all its lackeys." . The front covers shows an enthusiastic Vietnamese youthful group of three North Vietnam Army NVA soldiers or Vietcong VC shooting a machine gun in the air presumably at U.S. Air Force aircraft. The three wear green army style uniforms and belts. . A part of the text reads we liberally translate: . "Who in the world is afraid of whom now It is not the Vietnamese people the Lao people the Cambodian people the Palestinian people the Arab people and the peoples of the world who are afraid of U.S. imperialism but that U.S. imperialism is afraid of the peoples of the world and panics whenever the wind blows. . Weak countries can defeat strong countries and small countries can defeat large countries. As long as the people of small countries dare to rise up and struggle dare to take up arms and take charge of the destiny of their own countries they will certainly be able to defeat the aggression of the big powers. . As long as the people are fully mobilized resolutely rely on the people and wage a people's war any powerful enemy can be defeated. . 700 million Chinese people are the strong backing of the Vietnamese people The vast Chinese territory is a reliable rear for the Vietnamese people." . This was written in 1971 it is interesting to see by that in early 1979 China was at war with Vietnam ! In the end the Vietnamese proved that a small nation can truly defeat a large nation like China ! It was China that was badly beaten by the Vietnamese ! Is that what Mao had in mind when the above was written . SINO-VIETNAMESE WAR OF 1979 Per Wikipedia: . The Sino-Vietnamese War was a border war fought between China and Vietnam in early 1979. China launched an offensive in response to Vietnam's actions against the Khmer Rouge in 1978 which ended the rule of the Chinese-backed Khmer Rouge. Both China and Vietnam claimed victory in the last of the Indochina Wars. . Chinese forces invaded northern Vietnam and captured several cities near the border. On 6 March 1979 China declared that the gate to Hanoi was open and that their punitive mission had been achieved. Chinese troops then withdrew from Vietnam. As Vietnamese troops remained in Cambodia until 1989 China was unsuccessful in its goal of dissuading Vietnam from involvement in Cambodia. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 the Sino-Vietnamese border was finalized. Although unable to deter Vietnam from ousting Pol Pot from Cambodia China demonstrated that its Cold War communist adversary the Soviet Union was unable to protect its Vietnamese ally. . Color photos are posted to our website. . CONDITION: . The work is bound in the publisher's limp wrappers with two rusty staples as usual former owner's name & date penned on front cover: "71.10.30." There is a bit of minor rubbing to the spine the pamphlet is solidly and firm with clean contents. . REFERENCE: .
