Le ondate diasporiche, perlopiù verso Europa e Stati Uniti, lentamente tramutano le estraneità vissute in patria in un posizionamento instabile, contrassegnato da "stati del tra" e definizioni confuse. Questa narrazione a più voci vorrebbe abbattere almeno una parete delle mura invisibili sollevate attorno alle opere letterarie di autrici irano-americane di differenti retaggi e generazioni. Poesie, racconti, romanzi e memoir sono la mappa di un'indagine che raccoglie tracce di straniamento e le esamina come prove di riscrittura del sé. Oscillazioni e spaesamenti sembrano predisporre ogni scrittura a essere strumento di revisione di una condizione identitaria incerta, trame e composizioni sono rilette come drammatizzazioni visibili di un transito.
