RARE copy of the College Calendar published by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in its 5th year (1930). The Hebrew University, which depended on the diaspora Jewry to supply it with both funds and students, used to print such books for circulation among donors. The book contains a list of the various staff members, overview of the work done at the university's institutes (which, at the time, were limited to Jewish Studies, Oriental Studies, General Humanities, Mathematics, Chemistry, Natural History of Palestine, Microbiology and Hygiene), information on academic and non-academic activities, register of courses for 1930 and 1931, student statistics and a detailed financial report. Additionally, the book includes a map and 5 b&w photographs of the Mount Scopus campus. 23.5x16 cm. 134 pages and 14 plates. Original black cloth hardcover with gilt lettering on spine. Cover slightly worn. Cover edges and spine upper edge slightly bumped. Ex-libris stamp on front endpaper. Tape on rear endpaper. Pages yellowing. Small stain on title-page edge.
