br. Ha ancora senso oggi parlare di Palestina e Israele usando espressioni come "processo di pace", "soluzione a due Stati", "partizione"? Ha senso continuare con un vuoto dibattito politico, facendo il gioco dei sionisti e mantenendo lo status quo? Le tesi di Noam Chomsky e Ilan Pappé raccolte in questo volume ruotano attorno all'idea che i tempi siano maturi per un cambio di rotta. Indugiare sulla questione israelo-palestinese significa condannare all'oblio un'intera popolazione, perciò, secondo i due autori, bisogna denunciare la natura di paese colonizzatore di Israele, spingere la comunità internazionale a prendere una posizione ferma contro le sue politiche d'occupazione e, soprattutto, ragionare in funzione di un unico Stato multietnico, dove palestinesi e israeliani possano convivere nel rispetto reciproco dei diritti umani. Si tratta di un nuovo approccio, i cui cardini scaturiscono innanzitutto dalla necessità di superare l'ipocrisia del lessico israeliano; non più "processo di pace", dunque, ma "decolonizzazione" e "cambio di regime". Come scrive Pappe, c'è bisogno di "un nuovo discorso che analizzi la realtà invece di ignorarla", perciò "se si vuole superare la paralisi concettuale impostaci dalla soluzione a due Stati, chiunque sia nelle condizioni di farlo - a qualsiasi livello - dovrebbe proporre una struttura politica, ideologica, costituzionale e socioeconomica che valga per tutti gli abitanti della Palestina, non solo dello Stato di Israele".
