Front hinge severely cracked but holding just barely with heavy notes in pencil and ink and glued-on newspaper clippings on related Neal family matters covering both front and rear endpapers. Rear endpapers have small holes minor; text unaffected and some pages are creased. Text underlined here and there with spotting on some pages. Frontis portraits of author and his wife are creased and foxed black-and-white photo between pages 56 and 57 of Neal with Civil War relics including Confederate flag; last page is small b&w photo of old Neal homeplace. 135 pages.
