Ce dessin est à rapprocher des vignettes des titres-frontispices de l'édition des oeuvres complètes de Scott publiées par Furne, Gosselin et Perrotin en 1835-1836 (en 30 volumes). Il fait partie d'un ensemble d'une dizaine de dessins qui semble être une réinterprétation des vignettes (plutôt que les dessins originaux de ces vignettes). [230-2]
