Importante raccolta di studi scientifici di biologia marina, realizzati sotto la direzione del Principe Alberto I di Monaco (Parigi, 1848 – Parigi, 1922). Alberto I, ancora molto giovane, ad appena ventidue anni, iniziò a coltivare la passione per le scienze naturali e in particolare per l'oceanografia. Si interessò ai nuovi strumenti che la tecnica metteva a disposizione per lo studio dei fondali marini, e con il sostegno di importanti scienziati compì studi oceanografici, realizzò mappe e carte nautiche. A lui si deve la fondazione di quello che sarebbe divenuto l'”Istituto Oceanografico” di Monaco, che include oggi un acquario, un museo e una biblioteca. Disponiamo di questo fascicolo VIII relativo a Epizoanthus, Caryophillia, Deltocyathus, Flabellum, Stephanotrochus, Balanophyllia. Each page contains a black and white reproduction of a photo of a noteworthy site in the Victoria region or up-island. Some noteworthy details include angle parking on Douglas and Yates, jaunty men's golf fashions of the day, a marvelous view of Saanich farm lands from Mount Douglas, the Italian gardens and residence of Mr. Butchart, tall timber along Cowichan Bay Road, the Malahat Drive alongside Goldstream, and a day's catch of huge fish near Victoria. Questa edizione, che arricchisce la collana "Ala tricolore", dedicata alle grandi imprese aviatorie del primo Novecento, ripropone il racconto in prima persona di una delle avventure aeree più celebri di ogni tempo. Nelle sue pagine rivive la doppia traversata dell'Atlantico, che nel 1933 chiuse l'era dell'avventura e aprì quella dei servizi aerei regolari. In pochi giorni, cento aviatori italiani volarono da Orbetello a Chicago, raddoppiando in un sol colpo il numero di quanti avevano trasvolato l'Atlantico.
