He was first assigned to the North India Annual Conference. He preached his first sermon in the local dialect within a short period and spent the next four years preaching throughout the countryside. He later returned to Lucknow and served there until the end of his life.<br /> <br /> Badley helped with the development of the Centennial Boys School into Reid Christian College now Lucknow Christian College. Mr. Badley authored books and articles on Indian Missions for American publications and put together the 1876 Indian Missionary Directory. <br /> <br /> 12mo 68pp advertisements 8pp. Printed plum paper wrappers. A true 1st printing in dustjacket lacking the national book award badge. A very good copy with crinkling and bending at the spine tips being the only damage - the head of the spine is particular bent into the rear joint. Clean unmarked pages in a solid binding as if unread. Corners straight. Jacket is bright and attractive with the $27 price intact and matching wear to the spine tips including a short tear to the top of the rear panel from the spine crimping. Powell's Books sticker to the rear panel indicating that this came from a public speaking event in February of 2012 - left intact for provenance. 256 pp. Boo's first book. <br/><br/> Random House hardcover
