The last issue No. 5. does not have the original front cover otherwise all original illustrated wraps are present. All a bit browned as expected and brittle with the occasional small marginal tear but perfectly good reading copies complete and nicely preserving the text illustrations sheet music and ads. 1905105099<p>Four postcards approximately 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" with stamps. Some writing on image side post marked some aging and browning edges slightly bumped; otherwise very good. This collection of four postcards from Cuba are postmarked stamped and written out. The authors are Anna and Nestor although in one card the author is less clear to a Miss K. Greve. Who lived in the upper West side of New York City. One card features Baby New Year for 1907 and has some color; the other three show La Catedral a promenade and what appears to me some kind of American monument. </p> books
18984079Puerto Principe 1898. Good plus. Thirteen photographs each approximately 4 x 5 inches on original card mounts. A few images rather faded. Light edge wear to mounts. Some photo credits in negatives; each with manuscript caption on mount verso. An interesting group of thirteen photographs taken by an amateur military photographer while deployed to Cuba during the Spanish-American War. The photos are centered around Puerto Principe now Camaguey in Central Cuba an unusual location for photos of this genre and focus on natives local architecture and natural views. Crude credits in the negatives of several images attribute the photographs to "Woodward" or "W.D.W" of the "15th U.S.I.B" i.e. 15th U.S. Infantry Battalion . Items include: One forty page brochure in decorated and printed card stock wrappers "CUBA The Pearl of the Antilles" with 16 itineraries and copious pictorial advertisements; two contemporary color picture postcards unused; small brochure folded to make four pages offering visits to "Algibe" Farm the "most typical Cuban Farm in the vicinity of Havana" where you are invited to see how crops are grown attend "Thrilling Cock-Fights at all hours" and "Royal Palm Climbing Exhibitions." Finally a fan-folded invitation to "Buy where Cubans buy" at La Isla de Cuba with an accompanying map 21 x 14 in. dated 1928 of the entire downtown Havana shopping district folded into twelve 7 x 3.75 in. panels with breaks at folds see photo.
