The history of the 6th Massachusetts in the Spanish-American War is unique in that its campaign was almost a bloodless one the absence of battles and the few months it was in the field rendering its experiences different in kind and degree from those regiments which were in the Civil War almost as many years and even for its sister regiments in Cuba in '98. And while the following account is written with a full appreciation of the seemingly insuramountable difficulties overcome by the War Department in an incredibly short space of time in addition to the necessary hardships of army life and it not intended in any sense as a "lament" there is that to record of interest not only to the regiment itself but to its friends." The third ode appears to have been published in 1801 and was perhaps included as an afterthought Evans makes no mention of this ode. A speech reflecting on the importance of philandrianism in society and the duties of the members of the Philandrian Society touching on religious and philosophical ideas as well as the role of benevolent groups in America. This includes Drake's account of the rise of hostility between Native Americans and colonists asserting that if white settlers had not been haughty and arrogant and considered Native Americans as equals little hostility would have arisen. Reprinted tracts in this include: The Present State of New-England with Respect to the Indian Wars; A continuation of the State of New England being a farther account of the Indian War; A new and farther Narrative of the State of New-England; a True Account of the most Considerable Occurences etc.; The War in New-England visibly Ended King Philip Beheaded etc.; News from New England being a True and last account; A farther brief and true Narration of the late Wars risen in New England. Pamphlet disbound from a larger work. 88 pp. A report on the Lecompton Constitution of Kansas in which slaveholding was protected. The first half of the report asserts that pro-abolition causes led rebellions in the state in an effort to go against the will of Kansas residents who according to the author supported the Lecompton Constitution. Included is a printing of the constitution as well as a report by Stephen Douglas who breaking with many Democrats sided with Republicans against the constitution. His and others' findings found many instances of voter fraud or irregularities and in 1858 another vote was held and the Lecompton Constitution did not pass. GOOD condition. 1854021929Nashua NH: Published for J.R. Dodge 1854. Unbound. Poor. Stated second edition. Single sheet 34 ½ by 26 inches. Linen backed varnished map. A map created primarily to depict the many railroad lines that were proliferating in the state of New Hampshire in the mid 1800s. Some of these lines ranged into to White Mountains to facilitate logging operations in the region. The counties of the state are prominent with towns also depicted. VERY POOR condition. Ex-library with a title label affixed to the reverse. Heavy creasing and lengthy tears to the entire piece mostly emanating from the left edge with some loss along the extremities and to the face of the map from the cracking/tearing. Map toned and faded with the varnish not doing it any favors. Some soiling and staining. A few old tape repairs present to the upper portion. The map is extremely fragile and will be prone to further deterioration with more handling. Any wear you can imagine it's probably on this map no pun intended. Sold as is. Published for J.R. 021195No Place: No publisher. Wraps. Good. No publisher place or date. Presumed Condor Nightclub San Francisco circa 1966. Roughly 11 ¾ by 9 inches when folded. Unfolds into 8 panels. A promotional work featuring famed topless dancer Carol Doda and her work at the Condor nightclub in San Francisco. Four panels feature reproduced press clippings from 1965 about Doda's show with the other four panels primarily featuring photographs of Carol Doda performing. One photo depicts the Condor's owners. Carol Doda popularized topless dancing in clubs being one of the first noted performers to do so. She started her topless act in 1964. In 1969 she changed her act to be entirely nude which she performed until it was outlawed in 1972. The Condor was opened in 1958 but became most popular once it started featuring Doda's topless act. It was added to the San Francisco Business Legacy in 2022 recognized in part for pioneering topless and bottomless entertainment. GOOD condition. Moderate uneven toning some soiling and a few small stains to the exterior. Faint vertical fold crease present. Minor creasing and wrinkling. Small chip at the center fore edge. No publisher unknown

Volume two only of this study of the people climate and animals of North America. By Cornelius de Pauw a Dutch philosopher who despite never visiting America considered himself an expert on the country. He insisted that Native Americans were inferior to Europeans degraded by an inferior climate and asserted that Europeans that moved to America also became degraded. He routinely dismissed evidence to the contrary such as the Aztec calendar. With a rebuttal to de Pauw's work by Dom Pernety. GOOD condition.
