First edition. 26 pp. A speech reflecting on the life and legacy of George Washington containing several lengthy quotes from Washington regarding his role as general of the American Army as well as president. With several passages of historical detail on the American Revolution including brief mention of Yorktown and Valley Forge. A footnote also contains a short genealogy of the Washington family. This speech was given to the freemason members of the Mount-Vernon Lodge as well as to St. John's Church in Providence Rhode Island on February 22nd 1800 5800. GOOD condition. 55378The signatures are Lloyd Captain Ali Baichan Boyce Fredericks Gibbs Greenidge Holder Holding Julien Kallicharran possibly Murray Richards Rowe and Clive Walcott the Manager. On a conjugate leaf are the signatures of eight members of the Test team for Australia: Gilmour Jenner Lillee Mallett Marsh McCosker Turner and Walker. These were probably collected at the time of the First Test in Brisbane in which case the Australians not to have signed are Ian Chappell Captain Greg Chappell Redpath and Thomson. Leading edges of the leaves slightly silverfish-nibbled; all edges slightly discoloured; two small light marginal spots; in very good condition. unknown

1938biblio8<p>John Henry Nash 1871-1947 American printer and bibliophile born Woodbridge Canada. After learning the printer's trade he emigrated to the United States in <br />1894. He eventually became professor of typography at the University of Oregon. A vital and vigorous personality in American printing he made beautiful books in California under patronage which has permitted him to work without too much consideration for limits of time materials and expense. All of Nash's books are <br />collectors items and are highlighted in a 1932 edition by Lakeside Press ranking Nash's books amongst the best printers and binders since William Morris.California History A book printed by John Henry Nash of San Francisco titled 'Exposition Addressed to the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of the Union by Senor Don Carlos Antonio Carrillo Deputy for Alta California Concerning the Regulation and Administration of the Pious Fund. San Francisco Printed by John Henry Nash. 1938.</p><p>Only 650 Copies were printed and bound. 35 pages including introduction and actual speech. Some cover wear and jacket tear but otherwise this is a book in exceptional condition. The California Pious Fund started in the late 1600's and was used by the Jesuits Dominicans and Franciscans to set up and run the California missions up and down the coast of California. Potential invasions from Russia French and Americans in the 1830's and some earlier instances the fund was used to support the military defense of California. When Santa Ana confiscated the fund and demanded that all the missions and mission properties be sold in the 1840's the fund nearly collapsed however a rejuvenation of legal action against the government of Mexico to recover the proceeds of the fund to help support the missions which were still operating but not as a military defense system in the 1860's. An important piece of California history a very nice and somewhat rare book.</p> Nash, John hardcover
1897019534No Place: No publisher 1897. Unbound. Good. 1897 Marksman Pin to Sergt Sergeant J.H. Mills. No producer or place. 1897 date inscribed on the reverse. Measures about 1 ½ inches tall by 1 inch wide. Safety pin style back. Three pieces attached by metal rings. Top two pieces are the same thin banner reading "marksman with the bottom piece being some sort of stylized cross formation with the date 1818 at the bottom and perhaps an ornate letter L on the other three points. Reverse has 1897 and Sergt J.H. Mills inscribed on it. No indication as to who issued this piece. GOOD condition metal with an overall dark patina with minor soiling and wear. No publisher unknown
