Ce roman policier a d'abord été publié en feuilleton en 1926 dans le quotidien " L'Intransigeant ", puis en livre en 1927 aux éditions Georges Crès. Il sera édité chez Plon dans la collection Aventures n° 1 en 1931. Edition en très bel état de fraicheur.

Maurice Margarot an early member of the London Corresponding Society was arrested in October 1793 during his delegation to a national convention of British reformers in Edinburgh.
