SKU1024274Le Livre de Demain Librairie Artheme Fayard Paris 1947. Very Good. French language; two volumes in one probably rebound by former owner because the publication dates are different--1947 for Bella and 1930 for La Sagesse de la Destinee--elegant marbled boards with red spine and corners gilt lettering on patch on spine red ribbon book mark; Bella by Jean Giraudoux charms with the author's characterisitic satirical whimsy has 125 p. immaculate and unmarked with 22 original woodcuts by Renefur and a list of other publications; the more melancholy La Sagesse et la Destinee by Maurice Maeterlinck has 126 p. immaculate and unmarked with 31 original woodcuts by Alfred Latour and a list of other publications. There is no former owner's name or stamp. The paper is of course age-toned but unchipped. The shade of M. Giraudoux whispers that the old-book aroma is much more agreeable than that of an old Kindle but even so there should be no extra charge for it. Le Livre de Demain (Librairie Artheme Fayard), Paris, 1947 hardcover
