This important paper is illustrated with electron microscope photographs of fibers of sodium thymonucleate 4 copies of two side-by-side prints. Wilkins' studies of sodium thymonucleate led him to Raymond Gosling a graduate student working with outdated x-ray equipment. The memoir written in Coward's amusing style covers his life until 1931; it was followed by Future Indefinite and Past Conditional. 431 pp. Blue cloth binding. Some light shelf wear and fading to the spine; overall in fine condition.<br style="">The French actor cabaret singer and entertainer Maurice Chevalier is perhaps best known for his signature songs including "Louise" "Mimi" "Valentine" and "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" and for his films including The Love Parade and The Big Pond. His trademark attire was a boater hat which he always wore on stage with a tuxedo. In 1958 he starred with Leslie Caron and Louis Jourdan in Gigi and in the early 1960s he made eight films including Can-Can in 1960 and Fanny the following year.  The success of Gigi prompted Hollywood to give him an Academy Honorary Award that year for achievements in entertainment. <br style=""> William Heinemann Ltd hardcover books

Hardcover. book is lightly worn with a touch of dust-soiling and faint spotting on the top edge of the text block; the jacket alas is badly compromised due to a large chunk having been torn away from the top left corner of the front panel taking with it about half of the title. "Body horror" novel about the psychological havoc wrought upon a famous pianist when his hands mangled in an accident are surgically replaced by those of a recently-executed murderer. Originally published in France in 1920 the novel was first filmed as a 1924 silent in Austria directed by Robert Wiene of "Caligari" fame; subsequent movie versions acknowledging the source novel were MAD LOVE 1935 starring Colin Clive and Peter Lorre and THE HANDS OF ORLAC 1960 with Mel Ferrer and Christopher Lee. It was also unofficially remade without source attribution as HANDS OF A STRANGER 1962 and is often acknowledged as an inspiration for the 1946 thriller THE BEAST WITH FIVE FINGERS. Rare in the dust jacket this example of which apart from the noted large missing piece is virtually unworn and is a great candidate for professional restoration. Alternatively one could take the much less expensive approach of obtaining a beautiful facsimile of the original jacket from the well-known purveyor of such things; details upon request. . E.P. The engraving is a bit crude and printed on laid paper. It is likely that it was done shortly after Malartic's death in 1800. With Mr. Sendak's permission we arranged with Timothy P. Sheesley of Corridor Press to produce 200 copies of this limited edition print on Rives Arches paper each authenticated with their chop mark stamped on the lower left margin; numbered and SIGNED by the artist an additional 38 copies total were done as trial proofs artist proofs hors commerce and bon à tirer. </p><p>Accompanied by a printed certificate of tirage limitation. The actual stone is now at The Rosenbach Museum & Library Philadelphia where it will be available for educational purposes but never again used for printing. </p> Battledore Ltd books
