Edizioni il Polifilo, Milano, Impresso dalla Stamperia Valdonega su carta appositamente fabbricata dalla Cartiera di Cernobbio, Verona, 1972. Introduzione e traduzione di Piero Bianconi. Album in oblungo (cm 31,5 x 43), pp. 127 intervallate da quindici riproduzioni, su cartoncino, a piena pagina e in colore, di stampe e vedute del lago di Como (le tavole sono in misura di circa due terzi rispetto all'originale da cui sono state riprodotte), testo a fronte italiano / francese, bross. in cartonato celestino con decori al dorso e titoli in oro, cofanetto in cartone del medesimo colore. Le quindici vedute del celebre "Voyage Pittoresque au Lac de Côme" uscirono in edizione originale nel 1822, quattro anni prima che le limpide acque del Lario fossero turbate dai primi battelli a vapore, così che il Wetzel poté godersi il bel lago e l’aria cristallina, alla ricerca com'era di cristalline trasparenze di acque e atmosfera, di ville e villaggi, di promontori e montagne. Nelle sue stampe si coniugano elvetica minuziosità, espressione di fedeltà al dato reale, e le romantiche atmosfere che emergono della delicatissima analisi della successione dei piani di luce. In questa edizione, alla riproduzione delle vedute si affianca una descrizione dei luoghi dell'intero lago, redatta dallo stesso Wetzel in francese, e qui riportata, con la traduzione a fronte in italiano, e preceduta da un elegante scritto introduttivo di Emilio Faccioli, dove, in forma di viaggio letterario, sono anche raccolti impressioni e ricordi sul Benaco di scrittori di ogni tempo, a partire da Catullo e Virgilio. Una traccia di umido al margine inferiore del cofanetto e più lieve al piatto anteriore, peraltro ottimo esemplare in bello stato di conservazione, bellssime illustrazioni.
