There were two later issues each with different text amendments. The Balkan states are described as they were before the Balkan Wars 1912/1913. The first English edition of this Baedeker handbook covering the seaports and sea routes of the Mediterranean. First published in German in 1909. In the publisher's distinguishable red cloth binding with gilt. These Baedeker handbooks from the company of German publisher Karl Baedeker set the standard for authoritative guidebooks for tourists. They contain among other things maps and information regarding routes travel facilities noteworthy sights attractions and museums written by specialists. With a folding frontispiece map of the Mediterranean thirty-seven maps a number of which are dual-spread and forty-nine plans seventeen folding. Collated complete. Covers Madeira the Canary Islands the Coast of Morocco Algeria and Tunisia. This is also the only Baedeker handbook in English containing a description of Constantinople. In the original cloth binding. Externally very smart indeed with only a few light marks to the boards and minor shelf wear. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with spots to the endpapers and an ink impression to the half title. With a 2" closed tear to the folding frontispiece.
